The Value Of A Spreadsheet

So during my mission we took the responsibility upon us on occasion to make some spreadsheets that helped us succeed in certain aspects of the mission labor. As a result I have now become the king of spreadsheeting. Last week my parents left with Parker to St. George for a basketball tournament, leaving me with a LOT of down time, so I decided exercise my spreadsheet muscle by spreadsheeting my future, though slightly depressing, I had fun. I realize there are a lot of missing factors, and many factors such as tuition that will increase over the next twenty years of my life.

This is based on my decision to go to Med-School and to become a psychiatrist, as well as getting a Masters in Oriental Medicine.

Spreadsheets can be really eyeopening and really help see the reality of a decision!

I am good at boating. I did a 360 wakesurfing the other day.

For those of you that haves not seen "Mr.Magoriums Wonder Emporium" it's an amazing movie and I suggest you all see it. This one line in particular really touched me at this current point and time.

A Happy Fathers Day

Saturday night we got a call about boy in our ward who got lost in th Uintahs on a family camping trip. They were calling to organize a search party, me and dad volunteered and at three AM we headed out. We all met up at a grocery store close to the camping area and the parking lot looked like it was black Friday or something it was packed full of searchers. After a couple of hours of trudging through marshes, rockpiles and forest (Uintahs are really a search parties nightmare) a group in a FJ Cruiser (remember that, it's important) pulled up and waved us over and told us a horseback team just found the boy, I got on my walkie and got to inform the fellow searchers in the area, including the father of the boys discovery. Hearing everyones jubliant screams over the walkie was so amazing. When I saw the look on the boys fathers face as he held his son I knew that for him this would be the best fathers day ever!

PS. I got to ride in my dream car today.

This shirt spurred heaps of hilarious comments an Amazon.com.

"This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark."

Audition

Cavatelli is my fav pasta. I made hundreds of these delectable pastas by hand for my birthday.
Then I invested in this handy machine.

Thats right. It makes the same tasty noodle in a fraction of the time.

Now don't patronize me, cuz besides this the only things I know how to cook are Hot Pockets and Cereal, and I don't even get that right half the time. Sometimes I poor to much milk and it gets soggy to fast... you know what I mean?

Repair Keyboard... 0/140th of the cost: Check

Our MacBook Pro had a broken key on it, due to an individuals archaic repair, the the "Key Nipple" (an actual computer part term) was ripped off the key. I took it to the Apple Store expecting a quick and cheap repair. It was only a small piece of rubber that needed replacing right?
Wrong they told me it would cost $140 bucks. They would HAVE to replace the entire keyboard.
I went home and did this.

This is the broken key. Without a nipple.

This is a nipple I removed from a much older laptop, sitting on the razor blade I used to cut it out of the old laptop.

This is the new nipple (from the old laptop) placed in the hole left by the broken nipple.

Here is the delete key, re-installed over the replacement nipple.
The notion that they wanted me to replace the entire keyboard, a $140 expenditure, over maybe a ¢10 piece of rubber/silicon is absolutely ridiculous, and not to mention wasteful. I love Apple products and their software they continue to excel over all their competitors, but for a company that boasts "The Greenest Family of Notebooks" to be so wasteful is ridiculous.

I May Never Love Another

Title grabbed your attention didn't it. You probably all grabbed a waste basket just in case you needed to barf. Well let me release some of your tension, this is no cheesy, gross post about romantic blah blah blah.
This is about one boys love for the car he drove in High School. I know that as a young teenager I was rather spoiled, but I simply will never love another car. Someday I desire to own another "Polo Green 1994 BMW 740 iL". So many fond memories.
I have had the opportunity now to drive a ton of other cars, but none have left me feeling as safe, comfortable and young as I did behind that beautiful green monster.
One day it will be mine again.

Cold

So Cleveland is cold. I was walking to a job interview yesterday, and got "Frostnip" which is the step before frostbite, it was pretty painful, and I got a really bad headache. In other news, I am pretty sure I got the job, I just have to pass a test tomorrow and I am golden.

The Last Templar

There is this new NBC show called "The Last Templar" I know you all like posting your television recommendations, so here is mine. If you liked National Treasure or the Davinci Code, then you will love this show. I think it is somewhere in between those, though it does focus on the Templars and not the Masons. Anyways I have found it very clean, there was one crude remark at the very beginning of the show, but that is all I recall. The premier gets a little boring because it is two hours long, but as an hour long show I think it will be just fine.

This is the crazy mall guy, he really makes my day everytime I see him. I have been to the mall once or twice for job interviews, and every single time he is there with only two consistencies, the flashing message belt buckle and the steel toed boots, one time he wore a huge fur coat (that begged animal protestor attention) and another time he had a sparkly jacket and pants on. 3 Tips to Looking Good: There are many a good way to looking good, and receiving compliments, here is a short list of a few things that have worked good for me.

1. Look really trashy the first time they see you, that way the next time they see you and you are well groomed and dressed they cant help but smile and offer a kind "You look good".

2. It is never a bad thing to overdress, despite the ominous awkwardness, it leaves everyone striving to meet you as they begin to feel inadequate and underdressed.

3. Starting a new fashion, or trying to revive a fashion from the past is always a plus, everyone thinks your hip, regardless of the fashion your are reviving. (except mullets, please don't try and revive that)

3 Tips to Impressing People: This comes naturally to me, but here a few tips I have picked up on my own.

1. Whenever returning from home, remove your sweater and put on a different sweater. (I picked this one up as a little kid, from Mr. Rogers) If you feel so inclined you can also change into a different pair of shoes.

2. If you know someone is coming over, turn on a somewhat sophisticated movie in a different language, when they walk in and see you watching Davinci Code in French, they can't help but be impressed.

3. Every morning open up your dictionary and find an big word and try and use it at least once in every conversation you have that day.

this video struck a note with me. i have a lot of personal experience with this whole obesity thing, i hope this movie can strike a few notes with people. it makes me sad cuz these people especially the teenagers think that this is just how they are meant to be, thats certainly how i felt. they think there is no hope. there is, but first you have to accept that obesity is a problem.

So I didn't really get any sleep last night. I walked out of my room to see one of my roommates stand on a scale to weigh himself, thats when it hit me ( I am not talking about the unbearable stench of the noxious fumes coming from the toilet). I had the most brilliant idea, most scales are just numbers people can make whatever they want of numbers, what if instead of numbers the scale spoke to you? Hear me out I have made the following diagram of possible messages (this diagram is based on a man who is 6'0''.)

130-139 pounds: Scale says, "Congratulations you are not going to die of gluttony, perhaps starvation?"
140-149 pounds: Scale says, "Whoopdie dooh you are kinda underweight"
150-199 pounds: Scale says, "Your normal"
200-219 pounds: Scale says, "Your looking a little pudgy, have you called Jenny yet?"

Meditation

One day as a joke I randomly googled zen music to start playing for my apartment, during this I noticed the relaxing characteristics of the music, it really calmed me down. After noticing these relaxing qualities I looked/got more into this zen meditation zazoo and found it really interesting, calming and introspective it helps you get insight on yourself. Well I will stop blabbering on about this meditation stuff. I have posted a video of a "Guided Meditation" that I like, I think you should all try it (please try to get past the pervasive canadian accent).
