Viaje del Amor

So I have not been very good about keeping everyone posted on everything, I know that we are not all facebookers, so I am just going to give the update here as well. We (Sandra and I) are engaged :) Earlier this month I flew down to Mexico City where I got to spend two wonderful weeks with Sandra, really I have never been happier, I got to meet a ton of her family and friends, I got to know her city and her little town on the outskirts of the biggest city in the world, and it was all perfect.

We went to a baby shower, and wore matching shirts.

We smiled a lot.

We shared a romantic dinner on top of the Latin-American Tower.

We then danced on top in the lookout of the tower, though Sandra makes sure that everyone knows that I am no good at dancing, but she didn't mind. Then we found the temple through the binoculars and while she looked at it, a song I had written for her began playing on my laptop, she turned around and I was kneeling, and I proposed and well...the rest is history.

I am grateful that my Heavenly Father saw fit to have placed such an amazing woman in my life, and I am grateful that she has agreed to be my eternal companion.

So now we are waiting her approval to enter the United States and be married, it's for that reason that I haven't come out with to much information, because there is really no way of knowing. It is a financially and emotionally exhausting process, but we know that it's worth it, and that we will be blessed. Next Monday Sandra has an interview for a tourist visa so that she can come visit while we await our permission to marry, so please keep us in your prayers that her interview will go well, as well as the our permission to get married. And that's about it for now, love you guys :)

Las Noticias (News)

So I have been getting asked a lot of questions, and the occasional complaint about whats going on in my life, so I thought perhaps I would clear up a few things and let everyone know whats going on. I work at Wells Fargo 1/2 my week and the other 1/2 I spend in school or doing school work, and that one extra hour or so a day I get for ME time, I generally spend talking to my lovely girlfriend Sandra Alondra Karina Silva Dolores through skype.

Sandra lives in Mexico City!

And I met her while we were both serving missions in Torreon Mexico.

I met Sandra when she had just started her mission, I was in my second area of my mission. We became good friends, and strong support (one to the other) for the missionary labor. But beyond that I knew early on that I wanted to get to know her better after the mission.
¡Bading badaboom!
The mission was over and we got back in touch through the occasional phone call, and then the occasional skype chat, a friendship grew into something much closer, and recently we both realized que estabamos cayendo enamorados (that we were falling in love). She is an amazing woman, she is beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, strong spirited, witty, loving and a happy spirit/influence. I look forward to meeting her again (with the name tags off) in May, when I will be flying down to Mexico City!
I will keep you all updated on how that trip goes, and maybe you will all get the opportunity to meet her pretty soon (so now is a good time to dust off that high school spanish). Soon enough we will see if the prophecy of Uncle Randy holds true...

Remember Who You Are

Guilt, I did something bad.
Shame, I am bad.

Guilt, surprisingly is a positive emotion. It is what inspires change and ultimately perfection. Shame is a negative emotion, it inspires negative emotion, after negative emotion. These negative emotions inspire poor decisions which only add upon the shame we have already acquired. It's ok to feel guilt, but never let that emotion convert into shame. When you feel guilt remember this simple lesson taught by Lion King.

"You said you'd always be there for me, but your not, and its because of me, its my fault, its my fault".

Simba is demonstrating shame, this same shame that inspired him to hide and live an alternate lifestyle to try and hide his pain.

"Thats not my father, its just my reflection"

Often we can't see past our shame to who we really are, we need to follow the advice of Rafiki to "look harder", and you will see that the light was in you all along. Remember that "you are more than you have become...remember who you are..."

Remember that though the winds change and blow, "change is good". "The past can hurt" don't run from it, just learn from it! Remember that you are children of the divine, and that he lives in you.

For God so loved you that he gave his only begotten Son, that if you believe in him you shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Value Of A Spreadsheet

So during my mission we took the responsibility upon us on occasion to make some spreadsheets that helped us succeed in certain aspects of the mission labor. As a result I have now become the king of spreadsheeting. Last week my parents left with Parker to St. George for a basketball tournament, leaving me with a LOT of down time, so I decided exercise my spreadsheet muscle by spreadsheeting my future, though slightly depressing, I had fun. I realize there are a lot of missing factors, and many factors such as tuition that will increase over the next twenty years of my life.

This is based on my decision to go to Med-School and to become a psychiatrist, as well as getting a Masters in Oriental Medicine.

Spreadsheets can be really eyeopening and really help see the reality of a decision!
